Former NM AG Patricia Madrid Endorses Raúl Torrez

“Raúl’s tenacity will protect New Mexico families and keep us safe”

Today, Bernalillo County District Attorney Raúl Torrez announced that former New Mexico Attorney General Patricia Madrid has endorsed his campaign for New Mexico Attorney General.

"Raúl worked for me at the Attorney General's Office, and I have seen firsthand his excellent legal abilities, and how his tenacity will protect New Mexico families and keep us safe," said Madrid. "We need an experienced prosecutor and proven leader as Attorney General, and there's no one I trust more to step up and get the job done than Raúl."

Torrez has worked with experienced local, state and federal prosecutors throughout his career. After working under Attorney General Madrid, where he focused on internet crimes against children cases on behalf of New Mexico families, he joined the Obama Administration as a White House Fellow under US Attorney General Eric Holder, then returned to New Mexico and served as an Assistant US Attorney.

“I’m incredibly grateful to have Attorney General Madrid’s support and trust as we work to build a safe and prosperous New Mexico,” said Torrez. “Her tenure was marked by steadfast advocacy for victims of crime, women, and children and protecting consumers, all while standing up to safeguard our natural environment. I look forward to working with General Madrid all across New Mexico.”

As Attorney General, he’ll use every available tool to fight crime, protect consumers, safeguard the environment and stand up for democracy. Raúl has taken on the toughest jobs during the crime crisis and shown that he won’t back down when it comes to protecting our community.

Raúl is also recognized as a national leader for reform, being one of the first prosecutors in America to make information about police misconduct available to the public, and piloting a program to provide full transparency about the demographic outcomes in our criminal justice system.
